New Nepal Society Centre

The New Nepal Society Centre is a non-government funded children’s home founded in 2008, when Mr Krishna Gurung provided food and shelter in his guest house to thirteen young boys who were homeless or abandoned. His project has expanded and he now shares rented accommodation with 50 children from 5 – 16 years. Most of the children come from the remote areas of Nepal and several more joined following the earthquake of April 2015.

His aim is to empower the children by giving them an education, provide safety and security, shelter and nutrition. The home is very poor and relies on support from local Nepali people, and donations from overseas supporters.

We were introduced to the centre in October 2016 and were impressed by the genuine concern and care shown by Mr Gurung

To date, we have provided them with warm blankets for the winter, school shoes, toiletries and donations towards weekly fruit and veg.

In 2017 we provided funding to build a classroom and to improve the washing area by supplying new hoses, stand pipes, & drains, concreting the washing area and improving the toilets

Each year we buy the children a new outfit for the Dashain celebrations. They are delighted to have clothes from the shops as they usually wear hand me downs
